Options dialog - Logging - Log Details
| · | Log details (Disk and Active Log View)
| · | Log individual requests, responses, and other events
| Select this option to log DNS and DHCP requests.
| · | Include DNS record details
| When checked, activity will be logged on the record level.
| · | Include outgoing DNS requests
| When checked, outgoing requests (to resolve records) are logged.
| · | Include requests from blocked IP addresses
| When checked, requests from blocked IP addresses will be logged (they are still otherwise ignored).
| · | Only log Errors and Warnings
| Select this options to only log events for potential problems.
| · | Active Log View (see Views)
| · | Lines in Active Log View
| The maximum number of log lines displayed in the Active Log View.
| When this number of lines is reached, older entries are removed to make room for new ones.
| In general we recommend the default value of 100.
| Higher values can impact performance, but may be helpful when troubleshooting.
| · | Buffer when Active Log View is closed
| When this option is enabled, Simple DNS Plus will continuously generate and buffer log data for the Active Log View.
| This way the latest log entries will always be immediate available when you open the Active Log View.
| This option can be very helpful for occasional troubleshooting, but generally it should be disabled to achieve the best performance.
| · | Record errors and warnings to the Windows Event Log
| With this option enabled, events such as errors and warning are written to the Windows Event log (see Windows Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Event Viewer). This option has no effect on Windows 95/98/Me computers.
