The Plug-In Instance dialog has 3 or 4 tabs depending on the plug-in type:
| • | Display Name The plug-in instance display name is used to uniquely identify each plug-in instance. For plug-in types that have a View, this name will also appear in the main window View menu and on the view tab. |
| • | Plug-In Settings The content of this tab defines the behaviour of the plug-in and is different for each type of plug-in. |
| • | Ask About This tab is not available for plug-in types that supply this data through other settings. |
| • | Ask this plug-in about host records for Specify which domain name (including sub-names) Simple DNS Plus should ask this plug-in instance for host records for. If the plug-in is relatively slow (compared to in-memory DNS lookups) performance can be improved significantly by limiting this to the specific domain that the plug-in instance has data for. |
| • | Ask this plug-in about reverse DNS records for This section is only available for plug-ins that support reverse DNS lookups. Enable/disable reverse DNS lookups against this plug-in instance. If enabled, specify which IP addresses Simple DNS Plus should ask this plug-in instance for reverse DNS records for. If the plug-in is relatively slow (compared to in-memory DNS lookups) performance can be improved significantly by limiting this to the specific IP addresses that the plug-in instance has data for. |
| • | Allow Access Specify which client IP addresses Simple DNS Plus should allow this plug-in to be queried for DNS records from. For example, for internal/private data, you may want to limit access to your LAN IP addresses. |
