Download additional plug-ins

NOTE: This article is specific to Simple DNS Plus v. 5.1
Other versions of this article are available for:
Simple DNS Plus v. 5.0
Simple DNS Plus v. 5.2

This article lists plug-ins for Simple DNS Plus v. 5.1 which are not included with the standard installation.
Future plug-ins will be added to this page as they become available.
For more information about plug-ins in Simple DNS Plus see KB1213.

To use the following plug-ins, download and un-zip them to the "plugins" sub-directory under the directory where Simple DNS Plus is installed. After this they will be available in the Simple DNS Plus Options dialog / Plug-Ins section.

DynDNS Service plug-in

This plug-in makes it easy to run your own "DynDNS" service with Simple DNS plus (just like dyndns.com, no-ip.com, tzo.com, etc.).
For more information see KB1260.

Download: DynDnsService-PlugIn.zip (39 KB) (v. 1.0.2 December 11th 2008)

NB: This plug-in requires Simple DNS Plus v. 5.1 build 122 or later.

HTTP Redirector plug-in

This plug-in redirects HTTP requests for specified host names (and optionally all sub-names).
Redirection can be done either "cloaked" in a frame page (redirect URL not visible in browser) or through a standard 302/301 status response. The redirect-to URL can be either relative (requested path/query appended) or an exact URL with optional substitutions for host name, path and/or query string.
For more information about this plug-in, see KB1258.

Download: HttpRedirector-PlugIn.zip (24 KB) (v. 1.0.5 December 10th 2008)

NB: This plug-in requires Simple DNS Plus v. 5.1 build 122 or later.

CYBERsitter plug-in

Want a simple and effective way to protect your entire network from objectionable and malicious web-site content? Now you can. Easily and inexpensively with the CYBERsitter plug-in for Simple DNS Plus. You can choose any combination of a number of different list categories (adult, malicious, chat, etc.), and automatically prevent users on your local network from accessing listed web-sites.
For more information and to download a free trial visit http://www.cybersitterlists.com/.
For technical details see KB1255

NB: This plug-in requires Simple DNS Plus v. 5.1 build 113 or later.

MySQL Server plug-in

This plug-in queries a MySQL Server for host records and optionally reverse records.
For more information about this plug-in, see KB1225.

Download: mysql-plugin.zip (120 KB)

NB: This plug-in requires Simple DNS Plus v. 5.1 build 113 or later.

DNS Blacklist plug-in (DNSBL / RBL)

This plug-in is used to host a DNS blacklist (a.k.a. "DNSBL" / "RBL").
For more information about this plug-in, see KB1241

Download: dnsbl-plugin.zip (41 KB)

NB: This plug-in requires Simple DNS Plus v. 5.1 build 113 or later.

NOTE: Above zip file includes both the plug-in file (BlackListPlugIn.dll) and the DNS Blacklist Editor tool (DNSBLEdit.exe).
The later is used to create and compile data files for the plug-in and does not need to be in the "plugins" directory.

MyIP plug-in

This plug-in simply returns the IP address of the client that sent the DNS request (as seen by Simple DNS Plus).
This can be used for example by remote dynamic IP clients to figure out their current IP address - or simply as a diagnostics tool.
IMPORTANT: When using this plug-in make sure to set a value in the Plug-In instance dialog / Ask About tab, for example "myip.example.com". Otherwise the plug-in will respond for ALL host record requests.

Download: myip-plugin.zip (4 KB)

NB: This plug-in requires Simple DNS Plus v. 5.1 build 113 or later.

3rd party plug-ins

If you have developed a plug-in for Simple DNS Plus, please let us know the details and we will be happy to include it on this page.
For details on developing plug-ins see KB1238.

How do you install the plugins? I thought i could just stick them in the "Plugins" folder, but Simple DNS doesn't recognise them.

That's it!
Make sure that you use a plug-in matching the version of Simple DNS Plus that you are running.
Plug-ins on this page are for v. 5.1 only and won't be recognized by other versions.
See box at top of this page for links to plug-ins for other versions.
You'll find the version number of Simple DNS Plus in the Help menu / About dialog.

Okay. Well i'm running version 5.2, and all of the plugins except HTTPredirector shows up. I really, really need that plugin, and it won't appear on the list. It's in the appropriate directory, and the plugin says it's compatible for my version.
I'm only running the trial version, but this plugin is the main reason why I would purchase the full version. I just cannot get it to work.

In v. 5.2, the "HTTP Redirector" plug-in is included with the standard Simple DNS Plus installation (not downloadable).
If you downloaded the 5.1 version of the plug-in (above) and replaced the .dll file that came with 5.2 - then you'll need to re-install v. 5.2 in order to get the correct version of the plug-in .dll back.

I downloaded http redirect for version 5.1 it doesn't recognize it.. It seems i have a different build number?

27 Aug 2009 18:57 GMT - by Jesper - JH Software:
Hi eye,
What version and build number of Simple DNS Plus are you running?
You can see this in the Help menu / About dialog.
This must be version 5.1 with a build number 122 or higher for the HTTP Redirector plug-in from this page.
You can download the latest build of v. 5.1 from http://www.simpledns.com/download-oldver.aspx
